The deodorant detox process and cheap recipe

deodorant detox

What is a deodorant detox?

An armpit detox from deodorant is the process of cleansing your armpits from the build-up of antiperspirant deodorant and other toxins that may have accumulated in the skin and sweat glands.

Traditional antiperspirant deodorants block your sweat glands, preventing you from sweating. This process can lead to a build-up of toxins in the armpit area which, over time, cause irritation, odour, and even discolouration of the skin.

An armpit detox can help to remove these toxins and restore the natural balance of your skin.

The antiperspirant deodorant detox process.

The deodorant detox process usually involves using natural ingredients such as clay, apple cider vinegar and essential oils to cleanse the armpit area and remove any buildup of toxins. A good natural deodorant, like Bare You, can be used during the detox period to help reduce odour caused by sweating.

During the armpit detox process, you may notice you start sweating again. This is a natural process, helping to regular our body temperature and release toxins. Antiperspirant deodorants stop this process so it often feels unnatural when you start sweating under your armpits again.

After the detox, it’s recommended you use a quality natural deodorant that does not contain aluminium or other synthetic ingredients.

An armpit detox can be a great way to improve the health of your skin, alleviate irritation and even reduce odour.

Deodorant detox recipe

Here is our cheap and simple deodorant detox recipe.

If you’re switching to a natural deodorant, chances are you’ll need an armpit detox.  This simple method uses bentonite clay and optional apple cider vinegar. It’s quick, easy and inexpensive. If you prefer, you can add some water to dilute the vinegar or equal parts bentonite clay and coconut oil for a more soothing, hydrating mix that still has some antibacterial properties thanks to the coconut oil.

  1. Grab a bowl, bentonite clay*, apple cider vinegar and water.
  2. Mix one teaspoon of the bentonite clay, 1/2 teaspoon of water and 1/2 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar.
  3. Apply the paste to your underarms. After 4-6 minutes, gently wash off the paste with a wash cloth and warm water. Some of our customers report great results when using a natural pumice stone to apply the clay.
  4. Repeat once a day (it’s easiest to do it in the shower) for 10 – 14 days.

* Bentonite clay is available from most chemists and health food shops. It has antibacterial properties and works as a detox agent.  If you can’t source bentonite clay, bicarb soda or activated charcoal can be used as an alternative.  It should be noted that some people are allergic to bicarb soda.
